Scouting for Food - 3/5/17 - 11 AM-4 PM

Posted on Feb 24 2017 - 1:00pm

“Scouting for Food” is next Sunday! This is our biggest community service project of the year and one that we need everyone’s help with. On Sunday March 5 from 11 AM to 4PM we will be knocking on doors in Gold River to collect canned and boxed food items for the Cordova Food Locker which serves the needy and homeless in our local area. We ask everyone to arrive at Gold River Discovery Center at 11 AM, with Scouts in class A, to receive their instructions and a map to their assigned area in Gold River. If you can’t make it by 11 AM that’s fine come when you can and we will send you out to join up with another group. It is helpful if you can bring a reusable bag to take to the door to collect the food in, a wagon if you have one and boxes to put in cars for the collected food. A sack lunch and water is also great for when your Scout needs a break. Questions? Contact Elizabeth Ruygt GoldRivMom@comcast.net or text 916 402-4861.

A Knight of Fun!

Thanks to Kirstin Kline and Bernard Soriano for chairing this year's Blue and Gold Knights of the Roundtable Celebration!  We certainly appreciate their time and thought put into planning, coordinating, decorating, purchasing, and much appreciation also to their committee for creating the stations (Heather - the castle was AMAZING!; Tivonna - shields will be a keepsake!; Stroineys - Sword & Stone was a challenge!; Christina - the boys are certainly still catapulting marshmallows!); Maker Dan - LOVED the grand finale catapults!, prepping materials, making the program (thanks, Jennifer!), Thank You bags & cups (Wendy), and everyone who pitched in to help with setting up/cleaning up!  The boys had a blast celebrating Cub Scout's birthday.  Thanks also to all the families who were able to contribute to the Friends of Scouting Campaign.  Abigail McCullough, Soaring Eagle District Executive, thoroughly enjoyed herself as well and thanked our pack for their generous contributions.
